Do not happen to you what happened to Titanic

Don't go like the Titanic!

Although rivets are small, they are strong and their quality is very important. Choosing the right type and good quality rivet, can provide secure permanent fastening and fixing; they can also make DIY at home easier for you. However, catching poor quality pop rivets can be a number of annoyances or even costly for many manufacturers, from electronics to the mechanical engineering industry to fine mechanics.

Poorer quality rivets resulted in the sinking of one of the largest ships of the 20th century, the Titanic. So it is worth choosing carefully!

Researchers have repeatedly argued that the Titanic could have broken in half as quickly during its sinking because the rivets and steel were of poor quality. They broke easily in the cold conditions and the resulting water was easily broken by the seawater, resulting in the deaths of 1,500 people.

It does matter what rivet you choose!

Although the rivet appears to be small, it still plays a significant role in many areas. In the mechanical engineering industry, the Pop rivet (blind rivet) is well-known, which can be used in many areas with one-sided installation and always provides a perfect solution.

It provides a quick riveting process from one side, which is why blind riveting is popular. That is, POP riveting.

The advantage of the standard open type, which consists of a mandrel and a rivet body, is that the mandrel breaks at a predetermined point when the rivet is already tightly and firmly holding the workpieces to be riveted together with sufficient force. Be careful to fix the workpieces together without gap! The rivet’s goal is to fix together not pull together!

In the case of a closed type pop rivet, the end of the rivet body is completely closed. The pull rod is located in this closed body. Although the rivet is closed, it is strongly recommended to use insulating material under the head for perfect insulation.

The hole-filling, splitting or cracking type pop rivet is suitable for fixing fragile, thin and soft materials. Which one to choose? Ask a specialist for help!

What are the benefits of using a POP rivet?

Joints made with POP rivets can only be dissolved by destruction, have reliable strength, have several types of rivet: head, body form, working method, material,

Need more?

Here's what to expect if you choose a POP rivet:

  • You can count on them regardless of the base material: POP rivets ensure the secure fastening of two or more components, regardless of their material. Is it a material of different strengths and hardnesses? Does not matter. The rivets ensure that they are securely fastened.
  • Rivets allow larger parts to be securely fastened, nowithout distortion or surface damage!
  • For this reason, corrosion can be prevented by their use (if the drill holes have been made before surface treatment)!
  • You can install POP rivets either manually (with a hand rivetter) or automatically (with a pneumatic or cordless rivetter).
  • For POP rivets, it is advisable to choose a suitable tool based on the quantiti of rivets needed to be installed. Pneumatic tools or automatic riveters are also available.

Different types of POP rivets are designed to meet specific requirements. Which one should you choose? Our active staff will help you with your choice.
